Kimmage Development Studies Centre (KDSC) Quality Assurance Policy and Procedures

The Kimmage Development Studies Centre (KDSC) has committed itself to embracing an inclusive quality assurance culture. The KDSC Quality Assurance Handbook demonstrates this commitment. The quality assurance framework and policy documentation outlined in this handbook clearly articulates the principles and procedures followed by the KDSC, in its quest
to achieve and sustain the highest standards in education and training.

The KDSC is required under the Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 1999 to ensure
that quality assurance policy and procedures are in place and to agree these procedures with HETAC. In designing quality assurance policies and procedures, the KDSC has drawn from HETAC's publication, 'Guidelines and Criteria for Quality Assurance Procedures in Higher Education and Training’ (2002).

In doing so, the KDSC believes that the approach to quality assurance should be simple, flexible and relatively easy to implement. The KDSC sees educators as change agents who must take ownership of the quality assurance process and its procedures, and make it an intrinsic part of their work.
